Tracker Boot uses Story and Iteration data to help your team understand how work is moving, how consistently the team is delivering, and where attention may be needed.

Project insights with Tobi

You can ask Tobi questions about your Backlog, Iterations, and delivery history at any time.

For example:

Delivery metrics

Tracker Boot uses the following core delivery metrics across Iterations.

How Volatility is calculated

Volatility measures how much the team’s normalized delivery capacity varies across recent Iterations.

Tracker Boot calculates Volatility using the last three completed Iterations.

For each Iteration, Tracker Boot first calculates Effective Points. Effective Points normalize delivered points based on factors such as Iteration length and team strength, allowing Iterations with different working conditions to be compared more consistently.

Tracker Boot then:

1. Calculates the standard deviation of the three Effective Point values.
2. Calculates the average of the three Effective Point values.
3. Divides the standard deviation by the average and converts the result to a percentage.

Volatility = (Standard Deviation of Effective Points ÷ Average Effective Points) × 100

A lower Volatility means the team’s normalized delivery capacity has been more consistent across the recent Iterations. A higher Volatility means it has varied more significantly.

Iteration reports

Tobi can generate a stakeholder-ready Iteration report on demand.

An Iteration report includes a comparison between the current and previous Iteration and highlights the most important delivery signals.

The report includes:

For each key metric, Tobi can compare the current Iteration with the previous Iteration and show whether the value increased, decreased, or stayed the same.

The narrative sections help turn raw delivery data into a report that stakeholders can quickly understand.

For example, Tobi may explain that a drop in Velocity, a lack of completed Stories, or a sharp increase in Volatility could indicate something the team should review. These are interpretations of the project data, not automatic conclusions about the underlying cause.

Sending reports by email

Tobi can generate an Iteration report and send it directly to an email address.

For example: “Send this week’s Iteration report to Tobi@trackerboot.com.”

Tobi generates the stakeholder report using the project’s Iteration and delivery data, then sends it to the specified recipient.

You can use this to share Iteration progress with teammates, managers, or other stakeholders without manually preparing a status report.

Analytics

The Analytics area gives you a visual overview of your team’s delivery performance.

The Project Overview includes:

• Velocity and Points Accepted: Compare accepted Story Points across Iterations and see the team’s running Velocity.
• Volatility: See how much the team’s delivery capacity fluctuates over time.
• Story Cycle Time: Understand how long different Story types typically take from Started to Accepted.
• Stories Accepted: See how many Stories were accepted in each Iteration, broken down by Story type.
• Rejection Rate: See the percentage of Story rejections compared with all accepted and rejected Stories.

Tracker Boot also provides dedicated reports for:
